Modest Trends: Fall 2010 - Modesty Theory

Military Style
It's back again! This time however the focus is on the detailing and cut of the garment as well as the color.
colors: army green, khaki, brown
army: military jackets, cargo pants
aviator: bomber jackets, aviator jackets, shearling, leather

Velvet Clothing
Velvet adds elegance and sophistication not to mention, it looks rich. My favorite piece is the velvet blazer. A velvet blazer is like the female version of a man's smoking jacket, it dresses anything up and instantly adds class to your outfit.

Neo Double Breasted Jackets
I love this trend. It's so minimalistic but architecturally pleasing and looks especially great on blazers paired with a flowy top or dress.

60s dress / full skirt
it's ultra feminine and gives everyone that coveted hourglass shape.

70s Sophisticate
When we usually think about the 70s we think hippies, boho, Peace, Love, and Happiness.  This fall we look at the other side of the 70s.  The chic-er, classier, more put together side.  It's all about slinky silhouettes, high sheen fabrics, wide leg pants, billowy tops, and fur / leather.

Can't Live Without: The Nude Shoe - Modesty Theory

Can't Live Without: The Nude Shoe - Modesty Theory
I bought a lovely pair of nude colored Steve Madden sandals from Mandee awhile back, they've gotten so much use and are so worn down I think they will only last one or two more summers :(

So I'm desperately searching for new nude shoes.  Out of all the shoes I have, these sandals get the most compliments and are worn the most! They seriously match like everything and they blend in so they don't take attention away from the outfit.  They are pretty classy too.

These sandals are my go-to shoes for hard to match clothing. Summer = no more spending endless minutes trying to figure out which shoes to wear with my outfit.  But alas, colder weather is upon us and I can't wear these anymore unless I want my toes fall off T_T

I'm finding lots of nude pumps, and pumps are great! But I cant wear them for like everyday...it's so difficult to find the right pair of nude flats or kitten heels.  Because, not only am I looking for flats, I'm also looking for my new shoes to be in the right shade of nude. I find that lighter nudes + darker skin tone = weird. They just don't look right. Nude shoes that are same color as your skin tone or slightly darker look best.

I normally expect to see like a black pump in most outfits, like in the all pink outfit, but I'm wonderfully surprised to see them paired with nude shoes.  There is something elegant about a nude shoe, it's hard to describe. I feel like the addition of a nude shoe, as opposed to a black or brown shoe, adds an element of surprise and keeps the focus on the outfit. It's simple and understated.
